Live streaming is a relatively new social trend that allows viewers direct access to other people’s lives. From a girl nearly losing her eye to a house catching fire, join us as we take a look at 6 of the most shocking moments caught live on stream.
Scratching Post
This first video is of 22 year old Twitch gamer Sara Kate. At first it’s just a standard night of streaming Call of Duty gameplay on Twitch. But then her cat pays her a visit she’ll never forget.

After her cat Olive nearly scratches her eyeball out, she runs around the room in a panic. She tries to make a phone call then desperately asks her Twitch audience what she should do.
Since this horrifying incident, Sara Kate has become very popular on Twitch, running regular live gaming sessions as well as selling Sara Kate Eye Scratch t-shirts.
Kootra Gets Swatted
In 2014 Jordan Mathewson, known online as ‘Kootra’ was playing first person shooter Counter Strike when he began hearing some strange noises coming from other rooms in the house.

Known as ‘Swatting’, this prank can occur when other players or even viewers watching the live stream call the police and report illegal activity taking place at the home of the gamer. On this particular occasion, the anonymous caller reported that Mathewson had shot two co-workers and was holding other hostages at gun point.
Authorities warn that this highly dangerous prank wastes valuable resources and anyone caught doing so will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Highest Donations on Twitch
For many, the idea of receiving donations just for playing video games seems astounding but for those within the Twitch microcosm small donations are an everyday occurrence. However, sometimes those small donations turn large and can have a dramatic impact on the gamer’s life.
First up we have Kitty Plays Games. While doing her usual morning stream she is stunned by a massive US$7000 donation.

While $7000 may seem like an outrageous donation, it gets even bigger. A mysterious Twitch viewer known only as ‘Amhai’ routinely drops astounding sums of money on gamers. Popular streamer Sodapoppin received US$50,000 dollars over the course of several months. Then in early 2015 a French streamer called Liberty Of Gaming received a mind blowing EUR69,000 over the course of a live stream.

No one knows for sure who the enigmatic donator is. Some say he’s a billionaire oil tycoon with cash to splash others say he’s just a wealthy guy that gets a kick out of helping people. Whoever he is, Twitch streamers all over the world are just waiting for him to strike again.
House Fire
Little is known about the origins of this clip. Filmed In late 2015 a Japanese gamer, while live on Twitch, is seen playing around with lighter fluid and a box of matches. After catching the whole box of matches on fire the scene quickly escalates as every attempt to put out the fire only seems to exacerbate the problem. Watch now:

The following day, JoeDaddy 505 uploaded a video which was subsequently deleted, claiming that he was drunk and that he never hit anyone. As interest in the scandal grew, JoeDaddy announced that he did assault his partner but tried to justify his actions by saying that he was drunk, she hit him first and the recent passing of his father played a contributing role in what took place.
Authorities got a hold of the recording and are investigating the matter.
Caught Fiddlin’
In late April 2016, Youtuber and online gamer Phillip Burnell, better known as DSPGaming, was caught playing with his joystick live on stream.
Just prior to a scheduled stream session Burnell didn’t realise he had turned his webcam on and decided to indulge in a little pre-game warm up session. Later when he realised that the camera had been on the whole time is a moment of pure white hot embarrassment – gold!
