Pope Francis was a bouncer

Pope Francis was a Bouncer? Really?

During a recent visit to the church of San Cirillo Alessandrino near Rome, Pope Francis let a few interesting facts from his past slip during a conversation. He spoke of many things including a job he had sweeping floors and another testing chemicals in a laboratory. The juiciest nugget however was the fact that Pope Francis was a bouncer at a bar in Argentina. Much like St Peter guarding the pearly gates of Heaven, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, as he was known then, was in charge of who was allowed to come inside.

Francis officially became Pope on the 13th March 2013 after Pope Benedict’s XVI’s surprise resignation. Since Pope Francis has taken over the position as top dog of the Catholic faith, mass and confession attendance has steadily risen. Pope Francis has been known to secretly show up unannounced at mass gatherings of worship, wash the feet of prisoners and recently, kiss the head of a man covered in tumours. It is little wonder that he has been dubbed the Pope of the People.
