Archer Avenue is one of the most haunted roads in all of Chicago. It weaves its way through lakes and forests, and is home to the creepily named Resurrection Cemetery and St. James-Sag Church.

There are many terrifying accounts of ghost sightings on Archer Avenue, including ghostly monks, phantom horse riders, and the infamous ‘Gray Baby’ – a feral man who stalks the nearby woods.

But the most well-known ghost story of Archer Avenue is Resurrection Mary. They say this vengeful spirit is eternally bound to Archer Avenue, after she was struck and killed there more than eighty years ago. She appears to her victims as a distressed hitchhiker. But make no mistake: this is one hitchhiker who’s not worth stopping for.

Thought Co.

Highway 93 runs through the desolate desert area east of the Nevada border. Locals call it ‘Blood Alley’ because of the many tragic deaths that have occurred on it. This winding, hilly road is full of blind curves and absolutely no room for overtaking. It has no cell phone or radio reception, and you can often travel its entire length without seeing another vehicle.

The entire length of this lonely road is dotted with small white grave markers. Considering the treacherous conditions, it’s no wonder this road has a history of death and tragedy.

One spirit known to haunt Highway 93 is the ‘The Highwayman’, a tall and menacing cowboy. This terrifying figure distracts drivers by emerging from the side of the road. He carries an old-fashioned lantern and his face is always concealed by the brim of his hat.

Most Haunted Places

Opened in 1977, the E8, or Kuala Lumpur-to-Karak Expressway, is widely known as one of the most haunted roads in Malaysia.

Many who have driven down it at night claim to have seen strange creatures from Malaysian folklore. These spirits include the Pontianak, which is a malevolent vampire spirit created when a woman dies in childbirth. The Pontianak is said to eat babies and castrate men who are seduced by her appearance.

There have also been reported sightings of a small boy who is bleeding from his eyes. This spirit runs alongside travelling cars, asking for the whereabouts of his missing mother.

There is also the peculiar legend of the phantom Volkswagen Beetle car. Several drivers have reported seeing this yellow Beetle driving slowly along the expressway late at night. The Beetle has no driver and likes to follow other cars, engaging them in a strange overtaking game.

Wow Amazing

Finally we come to a tunnel that’s so creepy it’s been all but abandoned. Located just off the Big Elm Road in Kingsport, Tennessee, this tunnel was constructed in the 1920s and is now used only by brave locals.

This tunnel, which is named after the founder of the land, is said to have been the site of one of the area’s most gruesome murders. The legend goes that a man went insane and murdered his entire family, including his newborn baby. He then dumped his victims’ bodies inside the tunnel.

According to locals, any vehicle that stops inside the tunnel won’t start up again. Drivers who’ve passed through the tunnel say they heard deep cries of despair. They also discovered small babies’ handprints all over their windows and heard approaching footsteps when no one was around.
