Being a celebrity comes with many benefits which includes having enough money to indulge in various types of strange hobbies. One such hobby is the acquisition of exotic animals. It would appear that many famous people have developed a penchant for weird pets. From miniature donkeys to an octopus that helps with acting, here are 10 celebrities with strange pets.
10. Elvis Presley: Kangaroo
Certainly one of the most iconic of all musicians in the 20th century, Elvis received a kangaroo as his pet in 1957. Unfortunately, after trying to train the animal, which proved to be quite difficult, Elvis gifted the kangaroo to the Memphis Zoo.
9. Salvador Dali: Ocelot
Famous for his quirky lifestyle, it comes as no surprise that this eccentric, surrealist artist would own an unusual pet. Known to follow him everywhere, Dali’s pet Columbian ocelot named Babou, was acquired in the early 60s. While standard donkeys are common farm animals, the miniature ones are rather unusual. Reese has had a lifelong love of donkeys and recently she purchased ‘Honkey’ and ‘Tonkey’, two miniature versions of donkeys. However, when it comes to celebrities with strange pets, having a couple of miniature donkeys is perhaps the least unusual on the list.
7. Kim Kardashian: Chimp
Chimps and monkeys are actually popular exotic pets with celebrities and Kim Kardashian is no exception. However, unlike most other celebrities, Kim was criticized by many as acquiring the pet for publicity purposes which may or may not have been the case.
