5. Weird Ways With Women
Donald Trump’s unusual interactions with women are well documented. Did you know that in 2004 he was quoted as saying “All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected”?
Back in 1996, the self-obsessed Don Juan sent Princess Diana flowers in an attempt to win a date after her split with Prince Charles. Trump said “I only have one regret in the women department – that I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer…I met her on a number of occasions … She was a genuine princess – a dream lady”.
4. Tightwad Don
The Donald J Trump Foundation is a private charitable organisation founded in 1987 by Trump with money he made from his best-selling book The Art of the Deal. Since 2005 however, the foundation has been funded almost exclusively by friends and associates of Mr Trump. When the foundation makes a contribution to charity, Trump claims credit for the action even though he is using other people’s money to make the donation.
3. Every Penny Counts
Back in 1990, the satirical Spy Magazine set up a company called National Refund Clearinghouse. They sent checks for $1.11 to 58 well known people to see who would cash them. Surprisingly, 26 of the 58 people actually cashed the checks! The magazine then sent out another round of checks. This time for only 64 cents. 13 of the 26 people still cashed the checks. Finally, they sent out one last round of checks. This time for just 13 cents. Of the final 13 people only 2 cashed the checks – Adnan Khashoggi, a Saudi Arabian arms dealer and Donald Trump!
2. Trump Sued Author for $5 billion
In 2009, Donald Trump filed a $5 billion lawsuit against Timothy O’Brien, author of the book TrumpNation: The Art of Being Donald. Trump tried to sue O’Brien for claiming in the book that he was only a millionaire not a billionaire. O’Brien cited 3 unnamed sources who claimed that Trump’s net worth was only between $150 million and $250 million. The case was finally dismissed when the court ruled that the author did not commit any type of ‘actual malice’.
1. Biff is Based on Trump
Back to the Future’s villain, Biff Tannen is actually based on Donald Trump. After years of fan speculation, screenwriter Bob Gale finally admitted that the oafish bully from the popular science fiction trilogy was indeed modelled off Donald Trump.
In Back to the Future 2, released in 1989 Biff opens a 27 story casino after using a sports almanac from the future to become rich. The dishonest Biff then uses his wealth to influence US politics. The story is so eerily similar, it seems the writers of these films may have actually had a time travelling DeLorean!?
Well that was 10 things you need to know about Donald Trump. Can you think of any other surprising President Trump facts?
